Sri Lanka Safari
Sri Lanka has maritime borders with India to the northwest and the Maldives to the southwest. Its documented history spans 3,000 years, with evidence of pre-historic human settlements dating back to at least 125,000 years. Its geographic location and deep harbors made it of great strategic importance from the time of the ancient Silk Road through to World War II.
The Aggressor Safari Lodges® is located near Wilpattu and Minneriya National Parks. Guests will be treated to exciting jeep safaris in both parks, seeing the large game of Wilpattu plus many other animals and birds in their natural jungle habitat. Guests will also be amazed at the wonders of Minneriya National Park to visit the largest Asian elephant gathering in the world.
Two World Heritage Sites, the 3rd Century BC ancient city in Anuradhapura, home to the largest stupa (monument housing relics) in the Buddhist world and the 5th Century AD Sigiriya Rock Palace, will be visited which are the most valuable historical monuments of Sri Lanka and known as the 8th Wonder of the World.
And finally, we are thrilled to include a full day jungle excursion to Monkey Kingdom, Sri Lanka's Primate Center. As an extension of the Smithsonian Institution, the studies on these monkeys were recently highlighted by Disney in the film "Monkey Kingdom". Guests will be able to observe the monkeys in their natural jungle habitat. It's quite a treat!
