The Vilu Reef Beach & Spa Resort is set in a tropical island atmosphere on Nilandhe Atoll, combining coconut palm trees with tropical gardens and beautiful white sandy beaches. This beautiful resort was designed to reflect local tradition and architecture and the crystal clear blue waters are blessed with soft sun kissed sand surrounded by an amazing coral reef and a lagoon creating the perfect place for you to relax and explore the underwater world.

Throughout the day, the resorts 3 restaurants and 2 bars dish out exotic local food, as well as familiar favourites of the East and West. In addition, themed dining options are available for you to enjoy if you would like to try something a little different during your stay on the island.

A tranquil pond with a water fountain immediately transfers you to a calm state of mind when you enter the Sun Spa at Vilu Reef Beach & Spa Resort. This oasis of serenity waits for you within a setting of rustic ambience. As you relax before your treatment, you can lie back in the central seating area and take in the atmosphere of the spa away from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life. The Sun Spa includes four massage pavilions, three of which are open air with flower baths and open air showers.

The resort’s 5 Star Gold Palm PADI dive centre brings together an exciting array of diving and snorkelling itineraries, from discover scuba diving courses for beginners to specialist courses for the advanced enthusiast. On hand to guide you are the multilingual, professionally certified instructors, whose passion for the sea and the sport will soon inspire you to dive right in and explore the fascinating underwater world around the island.

Sun Diving School

Vilu Reef Beach & Spa Resort

The Sun Diving School is a PADI Golden Palm 5 Star facility located on the centre of the Island next to the north side of the main restaurant. The centre has a large and convenient reception area, an office, two air conditioned classrooms, compressor facilities and a spacious wet room. The two new Bauer Verticus compressors and a separate Nitrox allows you to enjoy longer dives so you can make the most out of your time in the Maldives enjoying its underwater delights.

The dive sites around Vilu Reef Beach & Spa Resort have everything to offer, from easy long reef diving with the possibility to see whale sharks, tuna, sharks, eagle rays, mantas and turtles on thila and giri dives with stunning coral formations and an amazing variety of reef fish and gobies.

The dive centre offers two tank boat dives in the morning with a departure at 9 o’clock and one tank boat dive in the afternoon leaving at 15:30. Experienced divers have the opportunity to dive at any time independently either in the lagoon or at the house reef.

Please Note:

The Maldivian Government has implemented a 12% GST (Goods and Service Tax) and will be charged to all clients for all services provided at the resort, which will also include additional diving services. Pre-booked diving rates include this charge.

You attain this rating by completing five pool dives and a number of knowledge development sessions with a final exam (which is not rocket science its just diving) and by completing four open water dives.

PADI Bubblemaker

Experience scuba diving under the direct supervision of a PADI Pro. Take your first breaths underwater in water shallower than 2 metres/6ft. For children who are at least 8 years old.

Bubble makers get a chance to:

  • Take their first breaths underwater in water shallower than 2 metres/6 feet.
