The Aviary is the result of many years of research. Natural habitats were created to allow the development of more than 1,500 Mexican birds, some of them in danger of extinction.
The scarlet macaw program is Xcaret’s most successful reproduction program. It obtained the Guinness World Record twice (2011 and 2013) for achieving the most macaws born in captivity, which has been able to repopulate the jungles of southeast Mexico.
