Cocos is a lush, green uninhabited island resting 342 miles off Costa Rica's Pacific coast. Rocky pinnacles surrounding Cocos are beacons for big animals and big action. Schooling hammerheads, countless white-tip sharks, mantas, tuna and even whale sharks call Cocos home.

The Arenal Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the Americas. From an observation point, you may feel the ground tremble and see the night sky explode with ash and lava in a natural display of fireworks; however don't be alarmed as this is a daily occurrence.

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is located along the Cordillera de Tilarán within the Puntarenas and Alajuela provinces.

Itinerary Overview

Are you ready? Let's start your adventure of a lifetime!

Flights depart Heathrow at 12:05 and arrive San Jose at 21:09. Via Newark arriving 15:30 and departing 17:55.

On arrival, you will be met by a member of our ground team who will transfer you to the Holiday Inn where you will spend the first night.

Transfer from San Jose to Puntarenas and boarding the Okeanos Aggressor.

On the first day of the charter a bus will pick you up at the Holiday Inn Escazu then Holiday Inn Express Forum and travels approximately 1 1/2 hours to meet the Okeanos Aggressor docked in Puntarenas.

Arrive to Cocos Island, diving begins

Travelling from Putarenas to the Cocos Islands can be a little challenging and it takes around 36 hours! Fear not, the diving is well worth it!

As the Aggressor crew says... time to eat, sleep & dive!

The primary attractions in Cocos are the large pelagics, i.e. hammerhead sharks, rays, mantas, turtles, and enormous schools of fish. Occasionally, there are sightings of whale sharks, marlin, and Bottle-Nosed. The bottom of the ocean floor at Cocos Island is volcanic rock. You can make up to 4 dives a day: night diving is currently not offered.

Time to reflect on the great diving and look forward to the next adventure.

The return journey to Puntarenas takes around 28 to 32 hours.

On arrival, departure from Puntarenas and transfer to the Hotel Tryp Sabana in San Jose. Day at leisure.

Early in the morning, the rep will be meet you at your San Jose Hotel in order to take you on your tour to Arenal Volcano & Tabacon Hot Springs. One of the most popular tours!

The Arenal Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the Americas. From an observation point, you may feel the ground tremble and see the night sky explode with ash and lava in a natural display of fireworks; however don't be alarmed as this is a daily occurrence. Next, you will visit the hot springs of the volcano, where you can relax in the soothing warm waters and be caressed by the cool night air while observing the stars and the incredible night sky above the volcano. At a convenient time after your arrival, you will be treated you to a splendid dinner. This is absolutely an evening you will not want to miss in Costa Rica!

Free Afternoon in Arenal Volcano

You may want to enjoy one of the many beautiful spa's or just relax by the pool to take in the beautiful views of the Arenal Volcano.

Please note: Exp. Tropicales will take the group to Arenal. This is not a private service and there may be more people on the tour. The idea is that when you arrive at Arenal, you can do the check in at the hotel and then have lunch at the same hotel, if rooms are not ready you can keep luggage in the hotel and take to the tour what you need for the hot springs.

At the end of the day, you will be transfered back to your hotel in Arenal.

Early in the Morning, after breakfast, get ready to take the Safari Float to the Peñas Blancas River.

Enjoy the sights and the sounds of the rainforest and experience its peacefulness as you quietly paddle the Peñas Blancas River. Monkeys, sloths, iguanas, crocodiles and numerous tropical birds await us! The professional bilingual guide will share with you educational and interesting explanations of the plants and animals we encounter on the float.

You will truly appreciate the wonders of Peñas Blancas River and the surrounding rainforest as you travel down the river without a motor. This way you will enjoy the journey quietly rowing and taking photos. Make sure to bring your camera and binoculars on this tour! This is half day tour specially designed for people with limited amount of time.

You will be crossing beautiful Arenal Lake to go to Monteverde Area via car after you cross Lake Arenal on a boat.

In the afternoon the transportation to Selvatura Park will meet the group and take you to the park, the Walkways are the best way to enjoy peacefully and safely of the virgin cloud forest canopy. Through the bridge system and over 1.6 miles of easy walking trails visitors can enjoy the marvels of the cloud forest and get the chance to see some of the world’s most amazing and beautiful flora and fauna. Your guide will show you and teach you incredible things in this area. Hummingbird Garden Tour Included.

Today you will enjoy a great day with the canopy tour in Selvatura.

You will head to the area where all the equipment is placed and guides will proceed to install harness and safety garments that you’ll need along the adventure passing then to the instructions area where safety talk will be taught the necessary techniques to fully enjoy this canopy experience; the adventure, well begging by climbing a spacious metal ladder, which takes you to the first platform, the pulley and the safety line will be secured and we’re ready to slide over the top of the trees. You will travel along six more cables of different heights and altitudes, before arriving to the “rappel” , were you will fall in to the vacuum helped by a 15 meter vertical rope, you will be helped and instructed by the guides. You go back to flying over the forest canopy, passing tree more cables which will lead to “Tarzan swing”, another of the exciting parts of the tour. After this you go for the second hike and take the last cable, the longest and highest, 600 meter long and 80 meter high.

Breakfast and transfer to the airport.

Flight departs San Jose at 12:45 and arrives at Heathrow at 10:15. Via Newark arriving 20:02 and departing 22:05.
