The Wilderness Lodge is located on the edge of a tropical coral lagoon on Gatokae Island home to one of the most biologically diverse places in the world where the rainforest, the ocean and the coastal life overlap. The resort is set next to the village of Peava and therefore features the village traditional construction materials including sago palm leaf, wild bitalnat palm and village-sawn hardwood with exotic timber and pandanus mat interiors. The Lodge’s stunning location offers unique access to the rich, natural and cultural world of Marovo Lagoon as well as spectacular views of the Rock Islands and easy access to the jungle-clad peak of the Mariu mountain and the three wild and uninhabited islands of Bulo, MaleMale and Kicha. This is not a luxurious oceanfront resort but it is the perfect escape from your everyday life.

The lodge’s own 300 metres private stretch of pristine white sandy beach is ideal for a relaxing afternoon after exploring the nearby islands and its magnificent underwater sceneries. The in-house SSI certified dive centre offers groups of 8 or less divers daily trips to a number of sites. With 50 dive sites to choose from you are in for epic pelagic and shark action as well as great dives on one of the world’s richest and protected coral reefs.

The Wilderness Lodge caters for a maximum of 12 guests using the two lodge rooms or the two oceanfront bungalows. The lodge has been designed to meld the atmosphere of the Gatokae rainforest and ocean with the lifestyle of the neighbouring small village whilst retaining Western comforts and convenience.

The meals feature local organic produce from the village gardens, fresh hand caught seafood and traditional and Pacific themes with an accent on health.
