Blackbeard’s Cruises offers exciting liveaboard scuba diving holidays in the Bahamas, with the Caribbean’s largest variety of dives, including shark dives, walls, drift dives like the Washing Machine, night dives, blue holes, and vibrant coral reefs in the Exumas Land & Sea Park. Departing Nassau every Saturday, the 65' sailboats take divers to the Exumas, SW Eleuthera, and Little San Sal for a week of adventure.

The central Bahamas, once the refuge of pirates, now provides divers with the opportunity to explore pristine waters, accompanied by the backdrop of secluded beaches. On these journeys, divers can visit Allen’s Cay to feed the resident iguanas, adding a unique touch to their adventure.

With no set itinerary, Blackbeard’s Cruises tailors each trip to the best conditions, offering thrilling encounters with sharks, eagle rays, and stunning marine life. The waters range from 15 to 80 feet, ideal for divers of all levels.

Recognised by divers as one of the best liveaboard experiences year after year, Blackbeard’s Cruises prides itself on providing top-quality, all-inclusive dive holidays. The liveaboard boats, the Sea Explorer and Morning Star, accommodate up to 24 passengers in dormitory-style bunks. While privacy is limited, the shared experience of adventure and camaraderie makes up for it.

Route Options

Experience a variety of scuba diving like no other place in the Caribbean. The variety of dive sites in the Exuma Cays is truly unique and offers opportunities not available elsewhere and they can only be reached on a liveaboard.

Sample Itinerary: Itineraries are weather dependent and tailored to best diving available each trip.

Saturday:
12:00noon board. Check in, lunch, unpack, safety briefing.
Depart* by 3:00pm for Central Bahamas.
During long summer days, we can offer one check out dive upon arrival in the Exumas.

Sunday through Wednesday:
3 daytime dives and 1 night dive per day/night in the Exuma Cays and/or Eleuthera.

Thursday:
2 daytime dives. Return to Nassau 2:00-5:00pm depending on weather and travel distance.
Port night in Nassau! Dinner is served on board. The evening is yours to enjoy on your own in Nassau.

Friday:
Disembark vessel by 9:00am.

*For flights to Nassau, plan to arrive before 1:00pm on Saturday.

Hollywood Bowl

New Providence, Bahamas

This dive site starts in just 10’ of water and offers large stands of Elkhorn coral formations that grow within inches of the surface. A large sand bowl is at the centre of the dive site, which is used often for commercial and feature film shoots such as “Splash” and “Cocoon” among others. Mahogany Snapper and Bluestriped Grunts are numerous as well as occasional Nurse Sharks, Turtles and Eagle Rays.

James Bond Wreck

New Providence, Bahamas

This site is home to the 902 shipwreck “Tears of Allah” and “Thunderball” airplane wreck used in the filming of the James Bond movies “Never Say Never Again” and “Thunderball.” There wrecks rest in a large sand hole surrounded by a variety of hard and soft corals. Thousands of Tiny Silver Sides call the wreck home as well as Blue Parrots, Yellow Tail Snapper and small tropical fish. Occasional Stingrays and Nurse Sharks are sighted.

Shark Area

The arena is a sandy spot of few kicks away from the wall. The surrounding area is home to a community of resident Caribbean reef sharks. The arena is market with a semi-circle of stones in the sand which divers are placed when participating in the daily Stuart Coves Shark Adventure.

Shark Wall

New Providence, Bahamas

Top of the wall begins in 50’ of water and drops to a deep vertical wall. Coral formations consist of hard and soft corals as well as a large variety of tube sponges. This site is home to Nassau and Black groupers, Eagle Rays, Lobster, Stingrays and Caribbean Reef Sharks, Horse Eye Jacks and Green Moray Eels.

Lost Blue Hole

New Providence, Bahamas

The rim of this large blue hole lies in 40' of water surrounded by coral heads, sting rays and many schools of fish. There is a lobster filled crevice at 80'. In the sand surrounding the hole, divers will find many small fish such as banded jawfish, Seminole gobies and tobacco fish. There are usually 1 or 2 nurse sharks here and during the spring a large school of black nose sharks inhabits the bottom of the 200' hole. This site is normally visited on the way to or from the Exumas. This is the location of our first lionfish sighting.

Periwinkle Reef

This is a shallow patch reef that is teaming with fish. The local Nassau operators feed fish here, so sergeant majors and angelfish will approach scuba divers looking for a handout.

Dog Rocks

Bahamas Diving , Bahamas

This reef starts at 35' and slopes off to 50' before dropping straight down into the Exuma Sound. This is one of the best dives in the Bahamas. If you like to identify fish, you will marvel at the large variety of fish. Black Coral is abundant here as well as Orange Elephant Ear and Tube Sponges. Near the mooring is a swim-thru called the Cathedral, where light filtering down from above lights up a large school of resident silver sides. Many pelagics frequent this reef.

Pillar Wall

Pillar Wall is one of many excellent wall dives. It starts at 30' and slopes to 50' before dropping 5,000' to the bottom. There are many caves and crevices. There is a large colony of yellow head jawfish in the rubble inside the reef.

Cave Rock

A large coral mound in 50' of water surrounded by several smaller coral heads. There are several caves where you can swim from one side to the other. The large variety of corals and fish will amaze you. We have frequently seen Hammerhead Sharks here.

Jake's Hole

This tidal blue hole lies in 20' of water. The highlight of this dive is the vibrant corals surrounding the hole. Because it is very tidal, scuba divers aren't permitted to enter the hole.

Blacktip Wall

Hammerhead sharks have been sighted frequently on this wall. This reef is also where Ned Deloach (Reef books co-author) found the very rare Lemon goby.

Most natural wrecks than any other island! Excellent reef and wreck diving. Eleuthera is a thin and long island east of Nassau with a beautiful landscape.

Located south-west of Nassau Island. Bahamas has a whole is a great shark dive destination but Nassau is especially highly populated and you can expect a to see a family of white-tip sharks and manta rays.
