On this trip we will get the chance to dive beautiful dive sites, eat great food and enjoy the best the Philippines has to offer. All of us started our journey from different parts in the UK, the beauty of it is, it does not matter where you are based, the Philippines can be easily accessed.
David & Andrea from ClubSub departed from Manchester, Ian from Scubatecks and Rich from Dive Rutland flew Birmingham to Manila, Steve & Val from Sunderland Scuba from Newcastle and Tony & Janine from Southern Scuba flew from Heathrow with me, MJ.
After a safe arrival we received a very warm welcome from all the team at the Atlantis Puerto Galera, alongside a refreshing drink we were lucky enough to sample the magic work of the massage ladies! All of which combined made us quickly forget about our extensive journey to get to the island!!
Once rejuvenated we headed over to the on-site, well-equipped dive shop where we were shown to our personal individual-purpose built equipment storage cubby. As a group we received a detailed briefing, completed all the necessary paperwork and got ready to start diving the next morning by getting all our equipment prepared and assembled.
The service Atlantis offers really is first class, our luggage, which we had left at reception, had been already been taken to our respective rooms. Which was exactly where we then heading for a quick rest before getting ready for our first meal as a group, that was so very kindly hosted by Andy and his team.
The rooms are very spacious and clean, offering a feel like no other hotel in the area with its Flintstone style design. In the room there is an en-suite shower, a flat screen TV, a safety deposit box and a mini fridge with soft drinks and bottled water. In each room there is free drinking water in a glass bottle that gets refilled daily with the aim to reduce the plastic use on the island!
Just before dinner, in traditional FAM trip style we gathered at the 50 bar for a few beers and cocktails, Ton Ton makes some great cocktails, I am going to definitely try to learn a few of his recipes before we leave!
Keep your eyes peeled, I will be reporting our first diving encounters shortly!
